Future projects

We have been a little under the weather here so I thought since I am not doing anything crafty I will show off some of my inspirations. There are some truly awesome blogs out there with some great tutorials. I know, I have most of them bookmarked :)

I have not made any skirts yet but I have pictured them in my head. There is a great one here 

Abby, from Morning by Morning has a lot of other neat ideas on her blog. Check her out.

If you decide you are digging skirts check this one out. Sew a Straight Line is a great blog. I love the fabric she used on this skirt.

Wrap skirts are so feminine.

I am planning a variation of this for Paul's phone. Cheryl from A Pretty Cool Life makes it look easy. I don't think I will use the same bright colors, I am thinking black with a rooster or something on it.

I would like to have something spiffy to put my business cards in. Perhaps this:

I found Schlosser Designs from another blog, though I can't remember which one. She just moved her blog so check out the new site.

I don't know about you guys but I am having some serious fabric envy issues right now.

I know if I had this laptop sleeve I may have less issues with my laptop. It is so darn cute. And it is thick too, that will protect from the kids and the dog knocking it around when I forget to put it away.

Char, from Crap I've Made makes it look easy. 

 Crap I've Made is also one of my favorite blogs. She is always making stuff that I like.

With all the great tutorials out there it was hard for me to narrow it down and only show a few. With that being said, here is one more:

This clever little purse uses something you would never guess to keep it closed..a tape measure. I love this idea! Hopefully it will be one of the next things I make.

My new love

I have a new love. Here is a picture of her

 Pretty awesome, I know. My man was so wonderful to buy this for me. I have been sewing like crazy. I had no idea I would love it this much.
There are so many great tutorials online, you can make just about anything. 


I found the tutorial  here for this great hook holder I made my bestie.

Found a tutorial here for these cute little change purses. And now that I can sew in a zipper  I can change them however I want.

 I have made 3 or 4 of these. I did change them up a bit. I put a strap on the others I made and I changed the inside pockets. I love the way they look. Isn't the yellow and gray fabulous?


This black one was going  to be something else but turned into this. I like it. I am going to mess around with decorations on the front of more of them.

 I won a couple auctions on ebay for zippers and have purchased more fabric. I am trying not to buy too much more until I use some up. 


I can't wait to make more stuff. Maybe soon I will have a tutorial of my own on here.

Thrift store find

I can't believe it has been almost two weeks since my last post! I hope I have not lost anybody. I will be hopefully making up for lost time in the next few days.

I found this old jewelry box when my bff and I were shopping a couple weeks ago.

I almost did not buy it. It was $3 and I am uber cheep. When I got to the counter with my other things we found out that Tuesday is half off day. Yippee. So I grabbed it. I saw some potential ya know?

So, I removed what hardware I could (some was too hard and I am just too lazy busy with other things). I picked out some fabric I liked and started gluing. 

 I tried to cut straight lines and all that, I wanted to be able to show this off.

 I pretty much just went around the whole thing with my fabric, trimming as I needed.

 Once I finished I decided I needed to finish off the spots where the fabric went into the box. Out came another thrift store find. I cut and glued some more.

 Pretty isn't it?

 
I measured for the top and then added some border around the outside. Once I did that I put the hardware back on. 

I added some to the drawer too. And buttons on the drawer pulls, then some ribbon on top to finish it off.

I really like how it turned out. I would have to say it was worth the $1.50 I spent on it.

Switch plate, mirrors, and owls

So, there are a few things that I have been working on this week. I decided wanted to Modpodge our switch plates because they were boring and I saw them on Whoopdwhoop and thought I could make them myself.

I have not done all of them yet. Here is the outside of the bathroom:

Umm yeah, it is an old house. All of the painting was done over things. So here is my fail practice for the week.

I am working on the rest, I have the kitchen and the living room done. Little by little I guess.

I love owls. In case you didn't know. I really wanted to make one out of clay. So I looked up how to make them and found this:

Here is what I made

I need more clay so I can make some more owls. And mushrooms.

My bestie Misty and I decided to make this awesome mirror that even rivals mine:)here

It was quite an endeavor to keep the dog and the baby entertained so we could do this.

 After we cut out the cardboard for the base and started to arrange the silverware. We had a few less then the tutorial used but we made do.

 Once we had them arranged how we wanted them we hot glued them onto the base. This took copious amounts of glue.

 We decided that we needed more cardboard so we cut some.

 We glued the plate onto the base of cardboard and silverware, then we glued the mirror to the plate. This was where Misty went home and got her glue gun because she was sure it was bigger then mine. It wasn't. But two small guns are better then one.

 Then we glued individual beads around the mirror because I thought it would be better then stringing them first.

I might have been wrong well intentioned.

  Here is the finished product. Totally worth the effort I think.
